Two dominant signal callers in Aidan Jakobsohn and Cody Stoever are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Ingleside Mustangs are on the road again on Friday and play against the Wimberley Texans at 2:00 p.m. on November 24th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Ingleside extended their postseason success on Friday against Bandera. They really took it to the BULLDOGS for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-33 win on the road. The score was close at the half, but Ingleside pulled away in the second half with 35 points.
Ingleside got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jakobsohn out in front who threw for 319 yards and six touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaydon Smith, who picked up 125 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Wimberley put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Orange Grove 49-7 on the road. Wimberley's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Stoever was his usual excellent self, throwing for 294 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes, while also rushing for 132 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Stoever has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Chase Carson was another key contributor, rushing for 79 yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Ingleside to 11-1 and Wimberley to 12-0.
Ingleside took a serious blow against Wimberley in their previous matchup back in November of 2021, falling 66-0. Can Ingleside avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
