3A District 5 recap October 8, 2013
Clearwater Central Catholic's CJ Cotman rumbled for the longest rushing play in 3A District 5 this season in his game against St. Petersburg Catholic last week. Cotman's team bested the Barons as he sprinted for 99 yards on the play and finished with 135 in all.
Clearwater Central Catholic extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating St. Petersburg Catholic, 35-14. The victory was the fourth in a row for John Davis' team.
Calvary Christian's dynamic duo of Jeremy Wood and Sedale Hudson proved to be unstoppable against Admiral Farragut, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wood threw for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns and Hudson had 76 yards receiving. Wesley Vollmer helped Calvary Christian's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 50 yards.
On the heels of Conor Regan and Danny Giordano, the Warriors have had great success on offense. Regan leads the league in passing with 678 yards, while Giordano has rushed for 611 yards this season. The Marauders' Cotman leads the league in receiving yards with 233 on 15 catches.
Steve Dudley's team scaled the state rankings by moving to 180 from 219 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Barons climbed the ranks as a result of falling to Clearwater Central Catholic 35-14.
