Becker is 1-9 against the Spartans since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Becker Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Rocori Spartans at 7:15 p.m. Becker knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 games -- so hopefully the Spartans like a good challenge.
Becker pushed their score all the way to 74 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 81-74 to North Branch. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (69), Becker still had to take the loss.
Despite their defeat, Becker saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sawyer Brown, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyan Blomquist, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Sartell-St. Stephen scored an imposing 68 points on Friday, Rocori still came out on top. Rocori strolled past the Sabres with points to spare, taking the game 85-68. The win made it back-to-back wins for Rocori.
Becker has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for Rocori, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.
Becker suffered a grim 75-53 defeat to the Spartans in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Becker avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
