Two dominant signal callers in Dj Richter and Jackson Freds are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Hondo Owls will be playing at home against the Cole Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hondo will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
Hondo can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 40-0 win over Poteet. Given Hondo's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 443rd, while Poteet is ranked 1089th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Cole's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were dealt a 41-14 defeat at the hands of Blanco. Cole was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
The losing side was boosted by Freds, who rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, and also threw for 88 yards and a touchdown.
Hondo's win bumped their season record to 9-1 while Cole's loss dropped theirs to 6-4.
