The Bronson Vikings will head out on the road to challenge the Fremont Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Bronson is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Bronson took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against Union City, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Vikings narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Chargers 11-9. While the Vikings didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Carson Stevens made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time he's pitched this season. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Warner Wotta was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Dawson Soergel also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Bronson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, Fremont was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They lost 18-2 to Leo. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered since June 8, 2024.
Fremont saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cayden Hufnagle, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Bronson's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Fremont, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bronson has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Fremont struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Bronson couldn't quite finish off Fremont in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
