Boulder Creek hasn't had much luck against Horizon recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Boulder Creek Jaguars will square off against the Horizon Huskies at 2:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
If Boulder Creek beats Horizon with 11 runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Boulder Creek walked away with an 11-8 win over Liberty on Thursday. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Avery Gurr was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Gurr was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Boulder Creek let Bailey Kerr and Bailey Chapman run wild. Kerr scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Chapman scored a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikayla McCoy, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Boulder Creek hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Horizon had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on Paradise Honors with a sharp 11-5 win on Thursday.
Pierson Hozza looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Lexi Nolen was incredible, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Hannah Felker was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Boulder Creek might still be hurting after the 19-3 loss they got from Horizon in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Can Boulder Creek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
