It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but the Whiteland Warriors ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They skirted past Columbus North 82-79. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Whiteland as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Leading Whiteland to victory were Gavin Stubbe and Jaskirat Banwait. Stubbe scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Banwait scored 28 points along with five assists and two steals. Banwait is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Spencer Gillespie, who scored seven points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Whiteland's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Columbus North, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.
Whiteland will face off against the Bull Dogs at TBD on Monday. Columbus North will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 209th, while the Warriors are ranked 90th). As for Columbus North, they will take on the Warriors at TBD. Whiteland has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests.
