The Archmere Academy Auks had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They strolled past Red Lion Christian Academy with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 35-16. The win was familiar territory for Archmere Academy who now have seven in a row.
Archmere Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brendan Burke out in front who rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Miles Kempski, who threw for 120 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes.
Another reason for the win was Archmere Academy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Ryan Hagenberg was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Although Red Lion Christian Academy took the loss, they still got scores from Bradyn Coleman and Mekhi Corbin.
Archmere Academy has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 8-3 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.3 points per game. As for Red Lion Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.
Archmere Academy will square off against Woodbridge at TBD on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Delaware (Woodbridge is ranked 16th, while Archmere Academy is ranked tenth). Red Lion Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
