The Mountain Crest Mustangs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 58-38 margin over Pine View. The victory was just what Mountain Crest needed coming off of a 66-42 loss in their prior contest.
Despite the defeat, Pine View saw an underclassman step up: Reese Gustin scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Gustin scored a full 47.4% of Pine View's points, the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Mountain Crest's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Pine View, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Mountain Crest and Layton Christian Academy will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Layton Christian Academy is ranked 72nd, while Mountain Crest is ranked 69th). Pine View will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Beaver at 5:00 p.m. on December 29th.
