The North DeSoto Griffins will square off against the Iowa Yellowjackets at TBD on Friday. One thing working in North DeSoto's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.
With a playoff game on the line, North DeSoto rose to the challenge on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat DeRidder 63-21 at home. North DeSoto might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won eight contests by 26 points or more this season.
Trysten Hopper and Luke Delafield were among the main playmakers for North DeSoto as the former rushed for 75 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries and the latter threw for 185 yards and four touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes. Delafield has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Landry Wyatt was another key contributor, picking up 63 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Iowa strolled past Plaquemine with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 36-19. The win made it back-to-back wins for Iowa.
North DeSoto's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Bossier and 3-8 Washington (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 37.1% over those games). As for Iowa, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Everything came up roses for North DeSoto against Iowa in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 38-9 victory. Will North DeSoto repeat their success, or does Iowa have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
