The University School Preppers fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Riverside Beavers on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 87-86 to the Beavers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Wednesday (55), University School still had to take the loss.
It was another big night for Dominic Kirks, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 17 rebounds for Riverside. That's the first time this season that Kirks scored 15 or more points. Desmond Kirks was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with eight rebounds.
University School are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-3. As for Riverside, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. University School will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Hiland at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Hiland will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Riverside will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Newark at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Newark presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Riverside in Ohio (Newark is ranked 33rd, while Riverside is ranked 482nd).
