Softball Recap: West Davidson Extends Winning Streak to Four

West Davidson came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the East Davidson Golden Eagles. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Dragons also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Hannah Rollins made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, West Davidson let Gracie Michael and Abigail Leonard run wild. Michael went 3-for-4 with one home run, while Leonard went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Leonard launched this season.

West Davidson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Davidson only posted a batting average of .125.

West Davidson's record is now 8-5. As for East Davidson, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Davidson will venture away from home to take on North Davidson at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Dragons 3.8, the Black Knights 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for East Davidson, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when East Davidson Golden Eagles take on East Forsyth Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Their pitchers better be ready for this one: East Forsyth has averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
