Adna has gone 8-2 against Napavine recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Pirates will venture away from home to take on the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Adna is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Adna let Pe Ell/Willapa Valley stack five runs on them in the sixth inning on Thursday but luckily Adna prevailed anyway. The Pirates walked away with a 10-7 victory over Pe Ell/Willapa Valley. Adna's win was all the more impressive since Pe Ell/Willapa Valley were averaging only 3.83 runs allowed on the season.
Beau Miller made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Adna let Cash Smith and Luke Mohney run wild. Smith went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Mohney got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Ty Bodenhamer was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one double.
Adna was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Napavine's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Toledo by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Tigers have suffered since May 18, 2024.
Adna's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.9 runs over those games. As for Napavine, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 11-1 and their overall record down to 13-3.
Adna skirted past Napavine 10-9 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
