The Rocky Mountain Lobos won the last time they faced the Poudre Impalas, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Rocky Mountain strolled past the Impalas with points to spare, taking the game 64-45. Given Rocky Mountain's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Impalas are ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rocky Mountain was led to victory by Maddox Base and Daniel Mbadinga. Base scored 13 points along with five steals, while Mbadinga dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Harrison Sandstedt, who scored four points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Poudre's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Luke Foster, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds, and Pierce Decker who scored 11 points along with three steals. Foster has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played.
Rocky Mountain pushed their record up to 9-7 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Poudre, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rocky Mountain will take on the Lightning at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Legacy will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for Poudre, they will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
