Given Higbee's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 188th, while Milan is ranked 475th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Milan lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ahmet Niasse. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 51.9% of Milan's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Keaton Weter, who scored seven points.
Higbee's win bumped their record up to 14-1. As for Milan, their loss dropped their record down to 3-15.
Higbee won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against North Callaway at 5:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Higbee is coming into the game with 14 straight victories at home, so North Callaway is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Milan, they will head out on the road to square off against Westran at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Westran is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.4 points per game this season.
