Softball Recap: Memorial Wins Going Away Against Frisco

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Liberty, Memorial was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Frisco Raccoons with a sharp 9-3 victory. Considering the Warriors have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Megan Wilson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in February.

In other batting news, Sanaa Moses was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two triples and one RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caiden Coleman, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Memorial hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Memorial now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Frisco, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-10-1.

Looking ahead, Memorial will face off against Lebanon Trail at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Frisco, they will square off against Liberty at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Frisco's pitchers better be ready for this one: Liberty has averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
