Friday, Dec. 16 marked another fantastic stop on the 12th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard, which is in its sixth season honoring the top boys soccer teams across the United States. MaxPreps and the National Guard made a visit to
Burlington (Vt.) High School to honor the boys soccer team as they defeated Essex High School (1-0) for the 2016 VPA Division 1 state championship.
When asked about the team's remarkable 17-1 season, head coach Demasi said "It is incredible what the team has been able to accomplish, and couldn't be any prouder of our boys." Out of over 16,000 boys and girls soccer programs nationwide, MaxPreps ranked the Burlington
No.15 in the country and No. 1 in the state of Vermont.
After hearing that the Seahorses would be a part of this select and elite group of teams, Coach Demasi could not have been more appreciative. "We are very excited for this recognition. MaxPreps is a huge part of high school sports and it's an honor to be recognized," he said.
During the ceremony, Lieutenant Arcovitch of the Vermont Army National Guard spoke to the Seahorses and congratulated the team on their accomplishments. Lieutenant Arcovitch then presented Coach Demasi and the team with the Army National Guard national ranking trophy and nationally ranked rafter banner.
Coach Demasi concluded the ceremony by thanking the crowd and everyone who had supported them throughout the season. The entire team then gathered together and took formal photos with the Army National Guard "Minuteman" trophy and their newly acquired Tour of Champions national ranking banner.
Congratulations to Coach Demasi and the Burlington High School boys soccer team on a great season and national ranking!
