Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Freeport). Everything went their way against the Vernon Yellowjackets on Thursday as the Freeport Bulldogs made off with a 21-11 win. The Bulldogs not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1, 2024.
Freeport let Annsleigh Withey and Kaylee Worrell run wild. Withey scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Worrell got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Withey also launched a home run, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kayla Stephens, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Freeport lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Freeport's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Vernon, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
