Basketball Recap: Lakeway Christian Academy Takes a Loss

If Lakeway Christian Academy was feeling good fresh off their 63-36 takedown of Eagleton College & Career Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lakeway Christian Academy Lions fell 52-41 to the McMinn County Cherokees on Friday.

When it comes to explaining why Lakeway Christian Academy lost, don't look at Kami Wilson. Despite the final result, she posted 23 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Wilson's evening made it 12 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Whetzel, who put up six points.

Even though they lost, Lakeway Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Lakeway Christian Academy now has a losing record at 4-5. As for McMinn County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-7.

Lakeway Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 54-37 defeat against Riverdale on the 21st. As for McMinn County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-50 victory against Maryville Christian on the 21st.
