The Newman Central Catholic Comets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Bureau Valley by a score of 58-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Bureau Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kate Salisbury, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Kate Stoller was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with four steals.
Newman Central Catholic dropped their record down to 10-13 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Bureau Valley, their win bumped their record up to 12-10.
Newman Central Catholic's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hall at 5:30 p.m. on January 25th. As for Bureau Valley, they will be playing at home against Kewanee at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
