The Plattsmouth Blue Devils will take on the Malcolm Clippers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Plattsmouth is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Plattsmouth was handed a 15-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Nebraska City, sneaking past 7-6. The win continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Pioneers: they've now won three in a row.
Jacob Longton tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Cody Demboski was incredible, going 3-for-6 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Eli Winters was another key player, going 1-for-6 with two runs and one RBI.
Plattsmouth kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Malcolm had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it 12 on Thursday. They never let the Warriors get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Clippers have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Mason Wisnieski was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carson Frank, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Chase Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Malcolm pushed their record up to 15-1 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Plattsmouth, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Plattsmouth has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .444. However, it's not like Malcolm struggles in that department as they've averaged .484. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Plattsmouth suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Malcolm in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Blue Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
