Buckhorn hasn't had much luck against Leslie County recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Buckhorn is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Cordia with a sharp 29-1 win on Monday. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Meanwhile, Leslie County never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Powell County as they made off with a 19-0 win. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Kennedy Maggard was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Jaelynn Johnson was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Royce Osborne, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Leslie County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Powell County only posted an OBP of .214.
Buckhorn pushed their record up to 7-13 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.3 runs over those games. As for Leslie County, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-14 record this season.
