Basketball Game Preview: Plateau Valley Cowboys vs. Vail Mountain Gore Rangers

The Plateau Valley Cowboys will challenge the Vail Mountain Gore Rangers at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Plateau Valley will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.

Plateau Valley is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing West Grand: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Plateau Valley blew West Grand out of the water with a 55-14 final score. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-12.

Jack Vig continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9 of 13 on his way to 19 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. His afternoon made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cash Salazar, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Vail Mountain had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They claimed a resounding 65-35 win over the Panthers. The contest marked the Gore Rangers' most dominant victory of the season.

Plateau Valley pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points per game. As for Vail Mountain, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Plateau Valley against Vail Mountain in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 58-21 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Plateau Valley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
