The Golden Valley Bulldogs had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.2 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 55-0 victory over Del Oro at home. Considering Golden Valley has won five contests by more than 20 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Golden Valley had a senior duo take command as Nate Abbott rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries and Dominick ?Tre? Thompson rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Abbott hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for six straight games.
Another reason for the win was Golden Valley's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Abbott.
Golden Valley's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-2. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35 points. As for Del Oro, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.
Golden Valley will head out on the road to face off against McLane at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Del Oro does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
