The Skyline Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the Niwot Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Skyline has four straight wins, the Cougars have five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Even though Skyline has not done well against the Ravens recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Skyline came out on top against the Ravens by a score of 57-47. The win was all the more spectacular given Skyline's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 196th, while the Ravens are ranked 31st).
Skyline's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Talan Starcevich led the charge by scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Starcevich hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Rahman Carson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 69-39, which was the final score in Niwot's tilt against the Silver Knights on Tuesday. Niwot has not had much luck with the Silver Knights recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Skyline now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Niwot, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
Skyline was able to grind out a solid win over the Cougars in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 44-34. Will Skyline repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
