Basketball Recap: Warren Central Falls Despite Big Games from Denaijah Jacobs and Denell Jacobs

Warren Central was the 71-46 winner over Pike when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Warren Central Warriors took a 59-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pike Red Devils on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Red Devils are ranked 18th).

Warren Central's loss came despite strong showings from Denell Jacobs and Denaijah Jacobs. Denell posted 20 points in addition to seven boards and three steals, while Denaijah went 5 of 11 on her way to 11 points and four steals. Denell is crushing it when it comes to points: she's scored at least 17 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Shantel Shockley, who had four points and seven rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Warren Central and nudges their season record down to 5-3. As for Pike, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.

Warren Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 45-32 win against Ben Davis on the 5th. As for Pike, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 77-60 victory against North Central on the 6th.
