The Clairemont Chieftains will face off against the Maranatha Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Clairemont is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 34-26 win over Calipatria. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Chieftains as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

It was another big night for Tyler Allen, who rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, and also picked up 52 receiving yards and one TD. Clairemont is 2-1 when Allen posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 0-8 otherwise. Bradley Eby also helped out with an impressive 88 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Maranatha Christian humbled Rock Academy with a 44-6 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight games by 22 points or more so far this season.
Clairemont better focus on containing Ryan Niguidula and Shane Piester as the pair were huge in Maranatha Christian's win. Niguidula rushed for 106 yards and one score on only seven carries, while Piester rushed for 46 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those 106 rushing yards gave Niguidula a new career-high.
Maranatha Christian's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Aaron Tasin, Caleb Kennedy, and Aiden Sarazin, who each picked up one sack apiece. Holton Heinrichs got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Maranatha Christian, racking up 14 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Niguidula, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Clairemont's record is now 2-9. As for Maranatha Christian, their record now sits at 10-1.
Clairemont took their win against Maranatha Christian when the teams last played back in September of 2022 by a conclusive 38-15 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chieftains since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
