Wauzeka-Steuben has gone 8-2 against Kickapoo recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Hornets will host the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with six losses in a row, Wauzeka-Steuben turned things around against Brookwood on Tuesday. They skirted past the Falcons 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hornets have posted since May 19, 2025.
Josh Martin was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Martin was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Martin wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Clint Mitchell, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Wauzeka-Steuben hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brookwood struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kickapoo). Their pitchers stepped up to hand La Farge a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Like Wauzeka-Steuben, Kickapoo also got a great game from a two-way player: Jace Nagel. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. What's more, Nagel posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Rhonan Culver was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brentyn Ewing, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Wauzeka-Steuben's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Kickapoo, their win bumped their record up to 3-10.
