Baseball Recap: Southern Lab Now 8-2 over Last Ten Games

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Southern Lab and Broadmoor meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Kittens blew past the Buccaneers 22-12. The Kittens might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Southern Lab got a massive performance out of Warren Gougisha, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances. Gougisha also put up two RBI, which were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Reginald Ellis, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Southern Lab has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Broadmoor, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15-1.

Southern Lab and Broadmoor could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings. The Kittens (ranked 232nd) will meet Ascension Christian (ranked 44th) at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Broadmoor will face off against West Feliciana at 4:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (317 vs. 59).
