It was a good run, but the Fairland Dragons unfortunately witnessed the end of their 11-game winning streak on Monday. They fell to Portsmouth 55-51. Fairland was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Portsmouth apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Fairland lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Bree Allen, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. The match was Allen's third in a row with at least ten points. Addison Godby was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Fairland's loss ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-1. As for Portsmouth, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
Fairland will head out on the road to face off against Gallia Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Gallia Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while Fairland is ranked seventh). As for Portsmouth, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Rock Hill at 6:00 p.m. on January 11th. Rock Hill is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
