Basketball Recap: Black Hawk Piles Up the Points Against Warren

Black Hawk won the last time they faced Warren and things went their way on Saturday too. The Black Hawk Warriors blew past the Warren Warriors 67-29. Given Black Hawk's advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 200th in Wisconsin, while Warren is ranked 521st in Illinois), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Warren lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Mayci Mullen, who posted nine points. Emma Janecke also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Black Hawk's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-9. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Warren, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Black Hawk will host East Dubuque at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Black Hawk knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully East Dubuque likes a good challenge. Warren has already played their next game (against Durand), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
