3A District 8 recap Oct. 9, 2012
University extended the longest winning streak in 3A District 8 this week by beating Chaminade-Madonna, 47-20. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Suns.
University took down the Lions 47-20 last week, the largest margin of any game. Mike White threw for 289 yards and four touchdowns in the win.
Roger Harriott's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Jordan Scarlett chipped in 110 yards. Scarlett helped University's passing attack out by catching three balls for 37 yards.
Dionte "DJ" Taylor was the best wideout in the league this week as the Suns topped Chaminade-Madonna. Taylor tallied five receptions for 165 yards.
University's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Suns feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. White has thrown for 780 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Taylor has 16 catches for 278 yards. Scarlett leads the league in rushing with 590 yards.
A big matchup in 3A District 8 this week will be when Tim Tyrrell's team takes on Archbishop Carroll. As it stands, the Lions are in second, while the Bulldogs are in fourth.
