The Logan Longhorns will be playing at home against the Fort Sumner/House at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Logan is ranked eighth, while Fort Sumner/House is ranked fourth).
Logan put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They really took it to Tatum for the full four quarters, racking up a 50-12 victory at home. The win was just what Logan needed coming off of a 54-0 defeat in their prior match.
Brock Burns got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 106 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also threw for 206 yards and four touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Aydin Kotara, who picked up 132 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Tatum to a paltry 213 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Logan's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out 12 times before it was all said and done. It was a group effort, with four guys contributing.
Meanwhile, after some red-hot offensive attacks in their last six games, Fort Sumner/House finally came back down to earth on Friday. They were beaten by Melrose 50-0.
Logan has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Fort Sumner/House, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
Logan didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Fort Sumner/House in their previous meeting on October 6th, but they still walked away with a 38-34 victory. Does Logan have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fort Sumner/House turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
