The Cyprus Pirates's 24-4 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. Their2023 ended with a 63-45 loss against Westlake on Thursday. Cyprus has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Cyprus had strong showings from Stone Tia, who scored ten points along with six rebounds, and Koli Fosita, who scored 12 points. Fosita scored a full 26.7% of Cyprus' points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Xian Brown, who scored five points.
Cyprus' defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Westlake, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Riverton the next time they take the court. Cyprus will head out to face Riverton at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, while Westlake will head out to face them at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
