6A District 11 recap Oct. 9, 2012
South Fort Myers extended the longest winning streak in 6A District 11 this week by beating Riverdale, 31-28. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Wolfpack.
Ida Baker took down Bishop Verot 42-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Sage Attwood threw for 136 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 164 yards in the win.
Eddie Collins was the best wideout in the league this week as South Fort Myers bested the Raiders. Collins tallied four receptions for 149 yards. Willie Johnson helped South Fort Myers' passing attack out by catching three balls for 73 yards.
Island Coast's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Gators feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Kurt Benkert has thrown for 1231 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while T.J. Johnson has 27 catches for 382 yards. Devon Calhoun leads the league in rushing with 652 yards.
A big matchup in 6A District 11 this week will be when Grant Redhead's team takes on Fort Myers. The Wolfpack are in first place, while the Green Wave are in third place.
North Fort Myers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,419 from 11,857. The improvement was the result of 34-9 victory over the Red Knights last week.
