The victory is the 78th in a row for the Bobcats over two seasons and marks only the second time a Texas school has gone unbeaten and won consecutive state titles in the highest classification.
Byron Nelson was in control of the first set as back-to-back kills from Kleckner opened up an 18-13 edge before the seven-point set win.

In the second set, the Eagles hung tough with the reigning national champions. Dawson took a 14-13 lead and forced a Byron Nelson timeout at 15-13 Eagles.
The message from coach Brianne Groth worked as Byron Nelson closed the set on a 9-0 run, capped by a Kleckner ace.
Dawson again led in the third set, 10-9, before Byron Nelson closed the match on a 16-9 run.
Byron Nelson started the season at No. 1 in the MaxPreps Top 25 and never faltered, running the table while winning tournaments in Hawaii as well as at home in Texas. The Bobcats dropped only four sets all year and were never forced to go the distance in a best-of-five match.
