The Choctaw County Chargers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They strolled past Oak Hill Academy with points to spare, taking the game 87-70. Given Choctaw County's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Oak Hill Academy is ranked 264th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Caleb Cunningham continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 38 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Choctaw County's points. Another player making a difference was Treyvionne Woodard, who scored 20 points along with three steals.
Choctaw County pushed their record up to 10-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.6 points per game. As for Oak Hill Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Choctaw County won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Pillow Academy at 4:30 p.m. on December 29th. Pillow Academy is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. Oak Hill Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against East Union at 10:15 a.m. on December 29th. East Union has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
