Make it six blowout wins for the Lakota East Thunderhawks this season. They put the hurt on Middletown with a sharp 51-25 victory on Saturday. Given Lakota East's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Middletown is ranked 396th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lakota East's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Fohl, who scored ten points along with six assists and five rebounds. Fohl is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Katlyn Pham, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Lakota East is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Middletown, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakota East will challenge Oak Hills at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Oak Hills focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Wednesday. As for Middletown, they will head out on the road to square off against Mason at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mason is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
