Vista PEAK Prep is a perfect 6-0 against Skyview since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Bison will host the Wolverines at 11:00 a.m. Vista PEAK Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Vista PEAK Prep didn't have quite enough to beat Northfield and fell 10-8. The Bison have struggled against the Nighthawks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Domenic Montoya and Karter Robertson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Montoya got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI, while Robertson went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ace Kelly, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, Skyview came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Eagles 11-1. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
Kaleb Rodriguez was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits. Skyview is 5-1 when Rodriguez allows two or fewer earned runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Rodriguez was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, Carlos Carrillo was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Skyview's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Andrew Casillas was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Skyview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Skyview's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Vista PEAK Prep, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 10-5.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Vista PEAK Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like Skyview struggles in that department as they've averaged .343. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Vista PEAK Prep came out on top in a nail-biter against Skyview in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, sneaking past 3-1. Do the Bison have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
