The Curlew Cougars entered their tilt with the Republic Tigers with 12 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 13. Curlew strolled past Republic with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 48-29. 48 seems to be a good number for Curlew as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Curlew found their leader in underclassman Annika Baker, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. Those 24 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Lena Baker, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
Curlew pushed their record up to 13-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Republic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Curlew will challenge Cusick at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cusick comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Republic, they will head out on the road to face off against Selkirk at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
