The Clay-Battelle Cee-Bees will square off against the Madonna Blue Dons at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Clay-Battelle's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Valley with a sharp 10-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cee-Bees.
Kooper Statler was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
Clay-Battelle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Madonna waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 17-4 margin over the Warriors. The Blue Dons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Reno Fuscardo made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Lazear, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Kaiden Wells was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double.
Madonna pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average this season. As for Clay-Battelle, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Clay-Battelle has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Madonna struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Clay-Battelle suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Madonna when the teams last played two weeks ago. Will the Cee-Bees have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
