The Stark County Rebels waltzed into Friday's contest with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against Lowpoint-Washburn by a score of 59-48. The victory was all the more spectacular given Stark County's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 335th, while Lowpoint-Washburn is ranked 105th).
Despite the loss, Lowpoint-Washburn still got an impressive performance from Baylor Steffen, who scored 25 points. Steffen is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now stole two or more in the last three games he's played. Kody Knecht was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 8 rebounds and 7 steals.
Stark County's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Lowpoint-Washburn, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
Stark County will be playing in front of their home fans against Midland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lowpoint-Washburn, they will head out on the road to face off against DeLand-Weldon at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. DeLand-Weldon is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
