On Saturday, 2024 welcomed Cloudcroft with a 47-22 loss courtesy of Wink. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Cloudcroft came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 120th in New Mexico, while Wink is ranked 731st in Texas).
It was another big night for Aizlyn Dewberry, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals for Wink. That makes it three consecutive games in which Dewberry has scored at least 25% of Wink's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Finley Frerich, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Cloudcroft and nudges their season record down to 4-8. As for Wink, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-8.
Cloudcroft will head out on the road to face off against Jal at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday. Wink's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hondo Valley at 12:30 p.m. on January 6th. Hondo Valley is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
