Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Mt. Zion Eagles, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were outmatched by Manchester on the road and fell 49-0. Mt. Zion's defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the squad, making it eight in a row.
Darius Favors had an outrageously good game for Manchester as he rushed for 120 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries. Another player making a difference was Kiwan Anderson, who rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown.
Mt. Zion bumped their record down to 3-8 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.4 points per game. As for Manchester, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
Mt. Zion does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Manchester will face off against Johnson County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Johnson County has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 124 points over their last three games.
