Truckee scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Churchill County, 30-20. At the time, the Greenwave were ranked ninth in the state, while the Wolverines were 274th.
Truckee moved up to 11 from 274 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in IA Northern. The Wolverines were able to make move up by beating Churchill County 30-20.
John Cefalu threw for 331 yards and three touchdowns. He was 19-39 with zero interceptions.
Jason Wilson was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 13 carries, he ran for 135 yards as Elko lost to Truckee. Teammate Cole Johnny added to the ground attack by rushing for 28 yards.
Barton was the best wideout in the league this week as the Greenwave fell to the Wolverines. Barton racked up eight receptions for 146 yards. Dylan Tedford helped Churchill County's passing attack out by catching five balls for 75 yards.
South Tahoe's Cefalu and Kyante Wilson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading IA Northern in both passing and receiving yards. Cefalu has thrown for 2914 yards this season, while Wilson, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 60 catches for 989 yards. Tyson Ernst from Churchill County leads the league in rushing with 948 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between the Greenwave and Lowry. Churchill County enters the game ranked 15th in the state, while the Buckaroos ranks 14th.
The Greenwave's Ernst is a mere 52 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
The Vikings' Wilson is a few successful plays short of surpassing 1,000 yards receiving this season. He needs only 11 receiving yards against Truckee to hit that benchmark.
There should be lots of points scored when Churchill County and the Buckaroos face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Greenwave comes in having scored 294 this season, while Lowry has scored 317. Churchill County scored 20 points last week as it lost to the Wolverines.
Truckee was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating the Greenwave. The Wolverines came in at 11 in the state poll after placing at number 274 last week.
