Jacksonville hasn't had much luck against Glenwood recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Crimsons will challenge the Titans at 10:00 a.m. Jacksonville is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
Jacksonville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They never let Springfield get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Crimsons have posted since May 3rd.
The result came thanks to AJ Charpentier's shutout, as he gave up just five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brandon Sims, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Glenwood ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Mahomet-Seymour 7-5. The win was familiar territory for the Titans, who have now won five matches in a row.
Glenwood saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cameron Appenzeller, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-5. That's the most RBI Appenzeller has posted since back in May of 2024. Joe Anderson was another, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
Glenwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.
Glenwood's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Jacksonville, their record is now 22-14.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Jacksonville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Glenwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
