Basketball Game Preview: Nash Central Bulldogs vs. Southern Nash Firebirds

Nash Central is 1-9 against Southern Nash since November of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Nash Central Bulldogs will welcome the Southern Nash Firebirds at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Nash Central is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 12th straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 65-61 heartbreaker at the hands of Northwest Halifax. One positive for the Bulldogs, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Despite the loss, Nash Central had strong showings from Gerald Davis, who went 10 of 20 on his way to 25 points in addition to five boards and five steals, and Markell Jasper, who went 8 for 12 on his way to 25 points in addition to six assists and five boards. Those 25 points gave Jasper a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaaziah Jones, who posted five points along with five boards and three steals.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Nash Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, the third road game was the charm for Southern Nash, as they earned their first road win of the season. They were the clear victor by a 59-37 margin over Corinth Holders on Friday.

Nash Central's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Southern Nash, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Nash Central suffered a grim 63-43 defeat to Southern Nash in their previous meeting back in January. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Nash Central was down 35-14.
