This season hasn't been kind to The Irving Tigers, who are still winless after their eighth game. They were dealt a 58-12 defeat at the hands of Richardson on Friday. While losing is never fun, Irving can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 945th, while Richardson is ranked 450th).
Although Irving took the loss, they still got scores from Tre Lewis and Xavier Ybarra.
Keyshon Polk went supernova for Richardson, rushing for 170 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. Jaden Pope was another key contributor, rushing for 117 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries.
Irving's loss was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 7.4 points per game. As for Richardson, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
Irving will head out on the road to face off against Pearce at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Richardson, they will be playing at home against Highland Park on Thursday. Highland Park is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
