The Riverdale Baptist Crusaders pushed their score all the way to 74 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 86-74 to Evergreen Christian. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Sunday (55), Riverdale Baptist still had to take the loss.
Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nathaniel Wooden, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacoby Briscoe, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Evergreen Christian was led to victory by Jackson Britt and Matthew Shelton. Britt scored 23 points, while Shelton scored 24 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Britt has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Rodney Ekwoanya, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Riverdale Baptist's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-11. As for Evergreen Christian, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverdale Baptist will take on Grace Brethren Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Evergreen Christian, they will be playing at home against Virginia Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Virginia Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 170th, while Evergreen Christian is ranked 27th).
