Baseball Recap: White Station Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Christian Brothers, White Station was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the West Memphis Blue Devils with a sharp 18-3 victory. Considering the Spartans have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Nathan Barnes looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, White Station got a massive performance out of Julian Haddad, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs Haddad has posted since April 1st. Demarcus Covington also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

White Station always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Memphis only posted an OBP of .357.

White Station moved to 14-12 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for West Memphis, they are on an 18-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-19.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. White Station will head out to square off against Lausanne Collegiate at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Memphis, they will challenge Nettleton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
